Press Release

With great anticipation Rosamund Felsen Gallery looks forward to presenting an exhibition by Jacci Den Hartog as she makes her debut at the gallery on July 10th with an extraordinary new body of work. Den Hartog is a Los Angeles-based sculptor whose work has always played at the edges of what sculpture can be.

Jacci Den Hartog’s new art works are portrayals of her experience of being in landscape. The exhibition will include eight large sculptures made of colorfully painted modeling medium, formed over steel armatures, which spring from the wall, then hover over the floor. They are the result of distilling the ephemeral experience of being in landscapes– remembering the colors, the light, and textures, describing the passage of time spent in those places. They condense and solidify evanescent experiences yet exist as enduring objects. Combining her observations, memories and travels, these art works confound us as each of these aspects are brought into a cohesive, yet visionary state.
